Welcome to our latest news!

At South Street Community Primary School, we believe that excellent learning comes as much from memorable experiences as it does from class-based learning.

We aim to give the children school days that they will enjoy, remember and want to share with you.

Busy days for Cuthbert!

Cuthbert, our knitted Angel of the North has been keeping busy both at School and at home! Before half-term, he went with Years 1 and 2 to Beamish. He had a great time and he was given a very warm welcome by all the staff. He was very excited when the school coach...

Cuthbert and Tilly

My stay at Tilly’s! On Friday I went to Tilly’s house for the weekend, where we had lots of fun. I met her mum, dad, sister (Summer), brother (Lee) and her dog Winston! On Friday we had a McDonalds for tea and we also had a movie night, where we watched a film...

Outdoor learning

The children have been making the most of the warm weather and exploring our outdoor area. This has given them a chance to use their gross and fine motor skills and problem solve. They have been mark-making both indoors and outdoors. They've really enjoyed themselves...

Hoops-y Daisy!

The children were all dribbling yesterday – but in a good way!

We were lucky enough to receive a visit from Newcastle Eagles, the most successfull British basketball team of all time.

The coach put the children through their paces and taught them some basic skills, keeping his eyes open for any future stars. He was suitibly impressed with the natural talent some of our children seem to have.

The whole school took part in the 45minute session, with some saying they really wanted to attend the new classes at Gateshead Leisure Centre. More details on class dates and time to follow.

Support our school – art work for sale

The children have been very busy creating masterpieces which are now up for sale.

You can pop along and buy their artwork from our Community Room every morning, or every day after school.

We were very impressed by the time and effort the children put into this project, and they were keen to impress with their talents. Well done to every one who took part!

We hope you will be as impressed with their work as we have been and hope to see you soon.

Come Fly With Me

The Reception children were visited by Birds of Prey from DLS Falconry and everyone had a chance to hold and take a closer look at these amazing creatures. Staff couldn’t resist a cuddle either! Thank you to Derek and Calvin for bringing them in and for teaching us so much.
